The misconception of Manga

Menga, generally known as comic or "漫画" in Chinese, is usually regards as a childish or form of bad source to use as education. But as human evolution advance, the quality of manga has also improved considerably, as a lover of comics, I wouldn't deny that my childhood was partly influence by the content of it, as well as cartoon, but wasn’t our best super heroes character came from comics? Look what has they become now. The early pioneer of manga is usually crude, no very well drawn but there are a few with great story line, now you can see there are more and more manga that not only contain mature story plot but great art work follow by intriguing fact, to date some country has officially regards manga as a source for teen education, some has even win awards.

As we human advance in technology, our reasoning power has also increase, so is it time that we really re-evaluate manga? There is a few reasons I believe we should.

First, I wouldn't said that most manga contain violent, pornography, and mis-education on humanity, but there are about 5% of it that not only contain great art work but also accurate historical fact and touching humanity story lines.

Like this one, the story line told an earth apocalypse, earth was turn into desert; one family was separated when they try to make their way back to earth, the mother of three children – Sarah set out to find her children on the anarchy earth.

Too bad the author - Takumi Nagayasu could not conclude the story, but by reading it is not difficult to imagine that if this was turn into a movie by George Lucas or Steven Spielberg, how great a film it will become.

The other good one is by - Murakami Motoka title ‘Ron’. The story told of this main character Ryu and his quest for truth:

This manga has won an education award in Japan. It is a worth read.

Mr Murakami was not only an artist, but he is very well verse in the culture and history of both Japan and China. In this long series of manga (37 thus far), he inter-twisted the history of 2 country and involved some historical figure by fictional tales, just to name a few – 东条英机, 鲁迅, 毛泽东, 蒋介石 are all in manga. And he also talks about the second world war.

For those who read 金庸 novel will certainly know what I meant, to tell a historical figure in a fictional story is not a so so easy thing to do, especially when you need to relate another fictional character created by you to them.

Well, so much I have said, to me these two manga are as good as reading Da Vinci code from Dan Brown, and better than reading 古龙.

Highly recommended, even to mature adult, don’t say I never said

Manga review: 鲔鱼土佐船。

鲔鱼,即吞拿鱼,英文名为 Tuna
We eat it with bread, we eat it with salad and we eat it as sushi, but many of us do not know how it comes about.

There are many Manga out there describing different profession, but it is just hard to find one describing the life of a true seaman. (Singapore Navy not counted)

Author of the Manga, 青柳裕介 chooses a rare topic as such for his Manga, doesn't make this Manga more boring, in fact, due to its rarity, I would call it a gem of Manga.

The Manga doesn't write about the hardship of the Tuna catchers only, but their passion and conviction towards the goals to secure more edible fish, each tuna once surface, must be treated with care or risk losing the market value, e.g. the tuna body should be intact for maximum sushi value.

If the story could be imitated and make into a TV series, I am sure it would be interesting, off course, not by TCS, they make lousy show.

Spiritual manga

I have to admit that this manga cannot be found in Singapore, as it has crude art and not so exciting story line. Not of any commercial value as to said.

Some christian may find it interesting while other critics find it 'no ground'.

This manga only manage to touch surface of the original author - Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), a Scientist, Philosopher and Spiritual explorer.

he may not be as well known as Thomas Edison, but his work in science not so far away. But the main reason that he is not as famous is probably due the 'power' during that era, you guess it.

The Roman Catholic at that time believe that he is heretic, most people thinks that he is crazy.

Of course lostin were no pioneer of the new church, plus the "Arcana Coelestia - Heaven's Secret" is longwinded and sure to put any regilious freek to sleep, lostin will just stick to the manga.

alternatively, for 'spiritual' purpose, it should be better to watch what dreams may come(1998), always(1989) and ghost(1990).

featuring 2 nice classical, unchain melody and smoke gets in your eye.

oh! all this are so childish!

Manga: God’s droplet

Manga has gain more notice in Singapore. From one of my previous post graphic novel as main stream pop-culture, I observed how they gradually gain popularity in recent years.

I am also intrigue by what story a comic book can now tell. This manga - 神之水滴, which has nothing to do with God but tells story about wine, inside, you will learn how to taste wine and tell their different. Wine lover should read them.

Let say Manga is only for the infantile, then this artist has waste all his precious time for research, he would be broke, this comic will be worthless.

Manga displays dyslogistic contents about South Korea

Japanese MangaThis is actually the part two of the controversial Manga. In the book, the artist not only smears and insults South Korea and their president, but also blames Roh Moo-Hyun for the bad diplomatic relationship between Japan and South Korea.

Look like interesting, if I could just get hold of one copy.

Manga: Ron 38

Is here, in this part the fight for the jade which could lead to atomic bomb intensify.

It is not known that which nation will get the jade, although we all know finally US invented the MDW, the story gets very interesting by involving many underground services which does not actually exist.

As good as a story teller like Murakami Motoka, you still cannot change history, nor even rewrite people opinion about history.

The series now stretch to nearly 40, which is more than I anticipated, by the look it can well reach 60 or more.

A lot of plot is involve, it has the best story in manga I have ever encounter, it is even better than Da Vinci code the book.

By the way, this manga is an award winner in Japan.

He also introduce manga to me and I get to read like "小叮噹" "好小子" , ever since I have an unquenchable passion for manga.

We use to catch the 'fighting' spider behind our school, fort canning hill, and have our S$0.30 rice with only gravy during our ECA time.

Oh! surely this memory have come back to me like a wave.

Thanks for the card! may your Lord be with you, always.

Japan forumers want government to redefine marriage

I am pointed to this Japanese forum, and informed that it is about a petition to urge Japanese government to legitimize virtual marriage, not a common kind you may guess. It is a union between real world people with a 2D Manga/Animated character.

I can’t read Japanese Kanji, hence no way I can confirm this. The number on the right increases by 5-10 each day. My question is, will Japan government pass the law if this amasses enough number? Like, say ten thousand.

Profound wisdom in simple Manga

家庭主夫录I discovered this little jewel not long ago. The comic is about a husband discovered his wife’s blog(diary) after she passed away. Her diary contains every details of their family daily life, from how to wash clothes to what are the habits of each family member. Husband rediscovers heart, passion and wisdom of his wife through her book, and found courage to carry his family forward, a simple comic with warm humanistic touch.

Manga becomes mainstream oredi

Graphic NovelsWhile waiting for wife, I spotted this newly added section in Popular Store. They make it sound so nice and also upgrade the social status of Comic. But, why only the English one huh? Chinese one lower class is it? Most of the Mangas I read are ten times better literature than all this add together. Check them out. Just a suggestion.

On the side note, this candy discourages snacking. The cap design is exactly the same as in the animation. I will keep this for a very long time. You can see the Japanese version one sold here. (Link) SGD 3.50, not cheap hor, and not made in China.
